The Killing recap
Johnny Clay, just out of prison, plans one last job: robbing the cash room of a racetrack on the day of a big race, worth about two million dollars. His crew is made of ordinary men with money problems: a corrupt cop, Randy Kennan, a betting window cashier, George Peatty, a bartender, Mike O'Reilly, and Marvin Unger, who puts up money and a hideout. George is desperate to impress his wife Sherry, who learns about the plan and tells her lover Val, who decides to steal the take. On the day, the plan unfolds in overlapping timelines: a hired wrestler starts a fight at the bar, a sharpshooter, Nikki, shoots the favourite horse during the race, and Johnny walks into the money room in a mask and throws the cash out of a window to Randy. Nikki is shot dead trying to escape.
How The Killing ends
Val's gang bursts into the meeting point and a shootout leaves everyone dead except the wounded George, who goes home and kills Sherry. Johnny, arriving late, takes the money in a cheap suitcase to the airport with his girlfriend Fay. The bag has to be checked, falls off a baggage cart, and the propellers blow the cash across the runway. Johnny doesn't run, and waits for the police.

Ocean's 11 recap
Danny Ocean and Jimmy Foster gather nine of their old buddies from the 82nd Airborne for a New Year's Eve job in Las Vegas: robbing five casinos at once, the Sahara, the Riviera, the Desert Inn, the Sands and the Flamingo. At midnight, they blow up a power tower, the Strip goes dark, and the backup electrical systems, rewired by the crew, open the cashiers' cages instead of the lights. They take the money, dump it in the hotels' trash bins, and a garbage truck driven by one of them carries it past the police roadblocks. Then the crew's electrician, Tony Bergdorf, drops dead of a heart attack on the Strip, and a retired gangster, Duke Santos, works out who did the job and demands half.
How Ocean's 11 ends
The crew hides the money in Tony's coffin to ship it out of town for burial in San Francisco, keeping some aside for his widow. She decides to hold the funeral in Las Vegas instead, and the coffin, with all the money, is cremated. The crew walks away from the funeral home with nothing.

Topkapi recap
Elizabeth Lipp, a jewel thief, wants the emerald-studded dagger of Sultan Mahmud I from the Topkapi Palace museum in Istanbul. She recruits her ex-lover Walter Harper, who puts together a team of amateurs without criminal records: an inventor, Cedric Page, a mute acrobat, Giulio, and a strongman, Hans. They hire Arthur Simpson, a small-time British hustler in Greece, to drive a car into Turkey. Turkish customs finds weapons hidden in it, and the police force Simpson to spy on the gang. When Hans hurts his hands, the clumsy Simpson has to take his place on the rooftop. During a wrestling festival, the team lowers Giulio by rope from the roof to swap the dagger for a copy without touching the floor, which is wired with alarms.
How Topkapi ends
The heist works, but a bird flies through the open window and trips the alarm. The police arrest the gang, who learn Simpson's messages tied them to it. In prison, Elizabeth starts planning their next job, the Russian crown jewels in the Kremlin, and the final shot shows the freed gang walking through snow.

The Italian Job recap
Charlie Croker comes out of prison and inherits a plan from a friend killed by the Mafia: steal four million dollars in gold being delivered to Fiat in Turin by causing the city's biggest traffic jam. To fund it, he wins backing from Mr. Bridger, a patriotic crime boss who runs things from inside prison. Charlie's crew includes a computer professor, Simon Peach, who will swap the tape in the city's traffic control system. The Mafia warns Charlie off by crushing his car. On the day of an England football match against Italy, the traffic lights fail and Turin gridlocks. The crew hits the armoured van and escapes with the gold in three Mini Coopers, driving through arcades, sewers, rooftops and down steps while the police are stuck.
How The Italian Job ends
The crew loads the Minis into a coach and drives into the Alps, celebrating. The driver takes a bend too fast and the coach ends up hanging over a cliff edge, balanced with the gold at the back and the crew at the front. Charlie edges toward the gold and says he has a great idea. The film ends there, unresolved.

The Usual Suspects recap
A ship explodes in San Pedro harbour, leaving many dead and millions in drugs missing. Customs agent Dave Kujan questions Verbal Kint, a small-time con man with a limp and one of two survivors. Verbal tells the story of how five criminals met in a police line-up in New York: the ex-cop Dean Keaton, McManus, Fenster, Hockney and Verbal himself. They rob a police-protected smuggling operation together, then are drawn into work for Keyser Soze, a mythical Hungarian crime lord whom people fear more than the police. His lawyer, Kobayashi, forces them to attack the ship to destroy a cargo of drugs, really to kill a man who can identify Soze. Kujan becomes convinced that Keaton is Soze.
How The Usual Suspects ends
Verbal is released on bail. Kujan looks at the noticeboard in the office and realises Verbal invented the story from names and details on it, including the brand on the coffee mug. As Kujan runs out, a fax of the survivor's sketch of Soze shows Verbal's face. Verbal walks down the street, his limp gone, and gets into a car driven by "Kobayashi".
