The Thomas Crown Affair recap
Thomas Crown, a bored billionaire, steals a Monet painting from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York during a staged robbery by a gang hidden in a Trojan horse; while police focus on the gang, Crown walks out with the painting in his case. The insurance investigator Catherine Banning works the case alongside Detective Michael McCann and quickly suspects Crown. She tells him so, and they begin an affair, each trying to outplay the other. She finds a Monet in Crown's house, which turns out to be a copy. Crown offers to return the painting and leave the country with her, and she gives the meeting place to the police.
