The story
Charlie Croker pulled off the crime of a lifetime. The one thing that he didn't plan on was being double-crossed. Along with a drop-dead gorgeous safecracker, Croker and his team take off to re-steal the loot and end up in a pulse-pounding, pedal-to-the-metal chase that careens up, down, above and below the streets of Los Angeles.
The Italian Job recap
Charlie Croker's crew, led by the old safecracker John Bridger, steals gold bullion from a Venice palazzo. In the Alps, one of them, Steve Frazelli, betrays them, shoots Bridger and takes the gold, leaving the others for dead. A year later, the crew finds Steve living in a Los Angeles mansion. Charlie recruits Bridger's daughter Stella, a safecracker who works with the police, to help steal the gold back. The team includes the computer genius Lyle, the driver Handsome Rob and the explosives expert Left Ear. Steve learns of the plan and moves the gold in an armoured truck, so the crew reworks the heist: Lyle takes over the city's traffic control, and they use three Mini Coopers to drop the truck through the street and drive off with the gold through the Metro tunnels.
The Italian Job ending explained
Steve chases them, and Charlie lures him to the train station, where the Ukrainian gangsters whose cousin Steve killed are waiting with the crew's help to take him away. Charlie and Stella are a couple, and the crew spends their shares.
