Inside Man recap
Dalton Russell and his crew, dressed as painters, take over a Manhattan bank and seize hostages, dressing them all in the same overalls and masks as the robbers. Detective Keith Frazier, under a cloud for missing money, leads the negotiations. The bank's founder, Arthur Case, sends the fixer Madeleine White to protect something in safe deposit box 392. Russell seems in no hurry, digging a hole and making demands. The box holds a ring and papers that show Case made his fortune collaborating with the Nazis. The police think the robbers will try to escape, and Frazier is sure something is wrong.
Inside Man ending explained
The robbers release everyone at once, all dressed alike, and the police cannot tell who is who. Nothing seems to be stolen. Russell hid behind a false wall in the stockroom, and walks out a week later with the box's diamonds. He leaves Frazier a diamond and the ring with a note, which Frazier uses to point investigators at Case.
