The story
A gritty crime saga which follows the lives of an elite unit of the LA County Sheriff's Dept. and the state's most successful bank robbery crew as the outlaws plan a seemingly impossible heist on the Federal Reserve Bank.
Den of Thieves recap
Ray Merrimen, an ex-Marine and recently paroled robber, leads a crew that takes an armoured truck in Los Angeles. Sheriff's detective Nick O'Brien, whose own life is falling apart, leads a violent unit that hunts them. Nick picks up Donnie Wilson, a bartender who drives for Merrimen, and pressures him to inform. Merrimen's real target is the Federal Reserve, which shreds about 30 million dollars of old bills a day. The crew stages a bank robbery as a distraction, while Merrimen and Enson enter the Reserve dressed as guards and Donnie, hidden in a cart, sends the money down a trash chute.
Den of Thieves ending explained
Nick's team catches the crew in a traffic jam and kills them in a shootout, including Merrimen, but finds only shredded paper. Nick realises that Donnie was the mastermind, using the crew and taking the money. Donnie is now in London, working at a bar across from a diamond exchange.
