Halloween recap
On Halloween night 1963, six-year-old Michael Myers stabs his teenage sister Judith to death in their Haddonfield home. Fifteen years later, he escapes from Smith's Grove Sanitarium the night before he is due in court, and his psychiatrist Dr. Sam Loomis, who believes Michael is pure evil, follows him back to Haddonfield. On Halloween, Michael, in a white mask and overalls, begins stalking high school student Laurie Strode and her friends Annie and Lynda. That night Laurie babysits young Tommy Doyle across the street from where Annie is babysitting Lindsey Wallace. Michael kills Annie in her car, then Lynda and her boyfriend Bob in the Wallace house, laying Annie's body out with Judith's headstone.
How Halloween ends
Laurie finds the bodies and is attacked. She fights Michael off with a knitting needle, a coat hanger and his own knife, but he keeps getting up. Loomis arrives and shoots him six times, and Michael falls off the balcony. When Loomis looks down, the body is gone. Halloween II continues the same night; Halloween (2018) ignores every sequel and follows this film directly.

Halloween II recap
Picking up the moment the first film ends, Michael escapes into the night while Loomis and Sheriff Brackett search the town. Laurie is taken to Haddonfield Memorial Hospital, where the night staff is thin. Michael kills a teenager mistaken for him, who is then burned to death in a police car crash, and makes his way to the hospital, where he kills the guard, nurses and paramedics one by one. Loomis is pulled away to be sent back to Smith's Grove, but his colleague Marion Chambers learns from the files that Laurie was adopted: she is Michael's younger sister, which is why he is after her.
How Halloween II ends
Marion's US Marshal escort turns the car around, and Loomis returns to the hospital in time to save Laurie. Laurie shoots Michael in both eyes. Blinded, Michael slashes at the air, and Loomis fills the operating room with gas and sets it alight, apparently killing them both while Laurie escapes. Laurie is taken away in an ambulance. The next film tells an unconnected story.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch recap
Michael Myers does not appear; this was meant as the start of an anthology. In northern California, a terrified man clutching a Halloween mask is brought into Dr. Dan Challis's hospital and is murdered there by a man in a suit, who then sets himself on fire. The victim's daughter Ellie and Challis follow his trail to Santa Mira, a company town owned by Silver Shamrock Novelties, whose three Halloween masks are being advertised nonstop on television. The town is run by Conal Cochran, the toymaker, and watched over by men in suits who turn out to be androids. Cochran captures Challis and shows him the plan: each mask contains a chip made from a stolen piece of Stonehenge.
How Halloween III: Season of the Witch ends
When the Silver Shamrock advert plays at 9 p.m. on Halloween, the masks will kill their wearers, children all over America, as a mass sacrifice for the ancient festival of Samhain. Challis escapes, kills Cochran, and flees with Ellie, who turns out to be an android and attacks him. At a gas station, he phones the networks and gets two channels to pull the advert, but one keeps airing, and he screams at them to stop it. The film ends there.

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers recap
Ten years after the hospital fire, Michael has been in a coma. When he is moved by ambulance on October 30, 1988, he hears that his sister Laurie, since killed in a car crash, has a daughter, Jamie Lloyd, and he wakes, kills the crew and heads for Haddonfield. Loomis, scarred from the fire, follows. Eight-year-old Jamie lives with her foster family, the Carruthers, and has nightmares about her uncle. Her teenage foster sister Rachel takes her trick-or-treating. Michael cuts the town's power, kills a police station full of officers, and hunts Jamie. Sheriff Meeker gathers the girls at his house, while a lynch mob of local men goes out after Michael.
How Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers ends
Michael chases Rachel and Jamie across rooftops and into a pickup truck, and Rachel runs him off the road. The police and the mob riddle him with bullets and he falls into a mine shaft. At home, Jamie, wearing a clown costume like Michael's first one, stabs her foster mother with scissors, and Loomis screams as he sees what she has become. Halloween 5 picks up from there.

Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers recap
Michael survives the shaft and is nursed for a year by a hermit, then wakes on Halloween 1989 and kills him. Jamie, mute since the stabbing, lives in a children's clinic and has a psychic link to Michael: she has seizures when he kills. He kills Rachel and goes after Jamie's friend Tina and others. Loomis, increasingly desperate, presses Jamie to help him find Michael. A mysterious man in black, with a tattoo on his wrist matching one Michael has, arrives in Haddonfield.
How Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers ends
Loomis uses Jamie as bait in the old Myers house. Michael chases her, and she pleads with him, calling him uncle; he removes his mask and sheds a tear, then attacks again. Loomis catches him in a net and beats him with a plank, then collapses. Michael is jailed, but the man in black attacks the police station, killing the officers and breaking him out. Jamie is left alone in a cell, screaming. The Curse of Michael Myers continues.

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers recap
Six years later, Jamie, now fifteen, has been held by a cult led by the man in black and gives birth on Halloween eve. A nurse helps her escape with the baby, but Michael catches her and kills her, not before she hides the baby in a bus station. Tommy Doyle, the boy Laurie babysat in 1978 and now an obsessive adult, finds the baby and names him Steven. The Strode family has moved into the Myers house, and Kara Strode, a single mother with a young son, Danny, is caught up in Michael's killings of her family. Tommy explains the curse of Thorn, a druid curse that drives the chosen one to kill his family on Halloween. Retired Dr. Loomis is visited by his old colleague Dr. Wynn.
How Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers ends
Wynn is the man in black, and his cult has been studying and breeding Michael at Smith's Grove; Steven is the result. The cult takes Kara, Danny and Steven there, but Michael kills Wynn and the cultists. Tommy beats Michael down with a lead pipe after injecting him with a corrosive fluid, and leaves with Kara and the children. Loomis stays behind, and the film ends on Michael's empty mask and Loomis's scream. H20 ignores this whole storyline.

Halloween H20: 20 Years Later recap
Ignoring parts 4 to 6, this follows Halloween II. Twenty years later, Laurie Strode has faked her death and lives as Keri Tate, headmistress of a private school in northern California, with her seventeen-year-old son John. She is still haunted and drinks to cope. Michael breaks into the home of Loomis's old colleague Marion Chambers, kills her and steals Laurie's file. On Halloween, while most of the school goes on a trip, John and his girlfriend Molly stay behind with friends, and Michael arrives on campus and kills them off one by one. Laurie's boyfriend Will, the school counsellor, is stabbed to death.
How Halloween H20: 20 Years Later ends
Laurie gets John and Molly to safety, then chooses to stay and fight, hunting Michael through the school with an axe. She stabs him and he appears to die. Not trusting it, she steals the van carrying his body, crashes it so he is pinned against a tree, and as he reaches out to her, she cuts off his head. Halloween: Resurrection later claims it was not Michael.

Halloween: Resurrection recap
It turns out the man Laurie beheaded in H20 was a paramedic Michael had swapped clothes with and crushed. Laurie, now in a psychiatric hospital, has been waiting for Michael. He comes, and she lures him onto the roof into a trap, but hesitates to make sure it is him; he stabs her, and she falls to her death. A year later, internet entrepreneurs Freddie Harris and Nora Winston run Dangertainment, a reality webcast that sends college students to spend Halloween night in the Myers house wearing head cameras. Sara Moyer, one of the students, is reluctant, and her online friend Deckard watches the stream from a party. Michael comes home and starts killing the contestants live on camera.
How Halloween: Resurrection ends
Deckard guides Sara through the house by text as the audience watches. Freddie fights Michael off and electrocutes him in the garage, and the house goes up in flames with Michael inside. Freddie and Sara are interviewed as heroes. Michael's body is taken to the morgue, and in the last shot his eyes open as the coroner bends over him. The H20 timeline ended there.

Halloween recap
Rob Zombie's remake spends its first half on Michael's childhood. Ten-year-old Michael grows up in a poor, abusive home, tortures animals and is bullied at school. On Halloween he kills a bully, then his stepfather, his sister Judith and her boyfriend, sparing his baby sister. He is sent to Smith's Grove under the care of Dr. Loomis, retreats into making masks, and kills a nurse, after which his mother Deborah kills herself. Fifteen years later, the adult Michael breaks out, returns to Haddonfield and stalks Laurie Strode, who unknowingly is his baby sister, adopted after the murders, along with her friends Annie and Lynda.
How Halloween ends
Michael kills Laurie's friends and her adoptive parents, and takes Laurie to the ruined Myers house, trying to show her a photo of them as children. She stabs him and flees. Loomis shoots Michael, who seems to die, but he wakes, and after a fight Laurie shoots him in the face from on top of him, screaming. The remake's sequel follows.

Halloween II recap
A year after the first remake, Laurie lives with Sheriff Brackett and his daughter Annie, suffering from trauma and nightmares. Michael, whose body vanished after the attack, roams the countryside guided by visions of his dead mother Deborah and a white horse, telling him to bring Laurie home. Dr. Loomis is on a book tour, profiting from the murders. His book reveals that Laurie is Michael's sister, Angel Myers, and she learns this in public and falls apart. On Halloween Michael returns to Haddonfield, kills Annie and Laurie's friends, and takes Laurie to an abandoned shack, where she begins to share his visions.
How Halloween II ends
Police surround the shack. Loomis goes in to talk Michael down and is stabbed to death. Brackett's men shoot Michael and he falls onto a rake. Laurie stabs him repeatedly with his knife and walks out wearing his mask. In the theatrical cut, she ends up in a psychiatric ward, smiling as she sees a vision of her mother with the white horse. Halloween recap
Ignoring every sequel, this follows the 1978 film. Forty years later, Michael has been locked up, and two true-crime podcasters try to provoke him with his old mask. Laurie Strode lives as a hardened survivalist in a fortified house, estranged from her daughter Karen after years of training her for Michael's return, though Karen's daughter Allyson still reaches out to her. During a prison transfer on Halloween eve, the bus crashes and Michael escapes. He kills the podcasters, takes back his mask, and returns to Haddonfield, killing people on the way to Laurie. His new doctor, Ranbir Sartain, obsessed with him, kills a deputy to see what Michael will do.
How Halloween ends
Sartain is killed by Michael. Laurie, Karen and Allyson make a stand in Laurie's house, which turns out to be a trap. Halloween Kills recap
The same night, firefighters respond to the burning house, set Michael free and are slaughtered. Laurie is rushed to the hospital for surgery. Flashbacks show that a young deputy, Frank Hawkins, stopped his partner from shooting Michael in 1978. Survivors of that night, Tommy Doyle, Lindsey Wallace, Marion Chambers and Lonnie Elam, are drinking in a bar when they learn Michael is loose. Tommy rouses the town into a mob with the chant "Evil dies tonight", and the mob turns on a mental patient who escaped with Michael, hounding him to his death in the hospital. Michael kills Marion, a couple in their home, and many others as he heads back toward his old house.
How Halloween Kills ends
Karen finds Michael at the Myers house and lures him out with his mask, and the mob beats, stabs and shoots him until he seems dead. He rises again and kills many of them, including Tommy. Karen goes back into the house, where Michael stabs her to death in Judith's old bedroom. Laurie, in hospital, realises Michael is feeding on the town's fear. Halloween Ends picks up four years later.
