The story
Michael manages to free himself from Laurie Strode's trap to resume his ritual bloodbath. As she fights for her life from injuries from their last encounter, she inspires her daughter Karen, her granddaughter Allyson, and all of Haddonfield to rise up against the unstoppable monster.
Halloween Kills recap
The same night, firefighters respond to the burning house, set Michael free and are slaughtered. Laurie is rushed to the hospital for surgery. Flashbacks show that a young deputy, Frank Hawkins, stopped his partner from shooting Michael in 1978. Survivors of that night, Tommy Doyle, Lindsey Wallace, Marion Chambers and Lonnie Elam, are drinking in a bar when they learn Michael is loose. Tommy rouses the town into a mob with the chant "Evil dies tonight", and the mob turns on a mental patient who escaped with Michael, hounding him to his death in the hospital. Michael kills Marion, a couple in their home, and many others as he heads back toward his old house.
Halloween Kills ending explained
Karen finds Michael at the Myers house and lures him out with his mask, and the mob beats, stabs and shoots him until he seems dead. He rises again and kills many of them, including Tommy. Karen goes back into the house, where Michael stabs her to death in Judith's old bedroom. Laurie, in hospital, realises Michael is feeding on the town's fear. Halloween Ends picks up four years later.
