Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! recap

Fred, the leader; Daphne, the fashionable one who keeps getting captured; Velma, the brainy one who loses her glasses; and Shaggy, a hungry, nervous beatnik, travel in a painted van called the Mystery Machine with Scooby-Doo, a cowardly Great Dane who can almost talk. Wherever they stop, something supernatural is scaring people away: a black knight in a museum, a ghost clown, a phantom ship, a space kook. Shaggy and Scooby get chased, usually bribed with Scooby Snacks to act as bait, Fred sets a trap that half works, and Velma pieces together the clues. The monster is always a person in a costume, typically someone hiding a smuggling ring or trying to scare off buyers, who complains that they would have got away with it if it weren't for those meddling kids. The show began on CBS in 1969 as a gentle alternative to the violent action cartoons parents had complained about. It ran for 25 episodes over 1969 and 1970, and in 1978 ABC aired 16 more new mysteries under the same title.

How Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! ends

Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! ended without a finale. The last original CBS episode, "Don't Fool with a Phantom", aired on October 31, 1970, and the 1978 ABC episodes closed with "The Beast Is Awake in Bottomless Lake". The format continued straight away in The New Scooby-Doo Movies (1972) and The Scooby-Doo Show (1976), and the original gang has been revived many times since.

The New Scooby-Doo Movies recap

The same five investigators, now in hour-long episodes, and each mystery brings in a guest star, either a real celebrity playing themselves or a cartoon character from another series. The gang teams up with Batman and Robin twice, the Harlem Globetrotters three times, the Three Stooges, Laurel and Hardy, the Addams Family, Josie and the Pussycats, Speed Buggy and Jeannie, and stars such as Don Knotts, Phyllis Diller, Sonny and Cher, Sandy Duncan, Davy Jones, Jerry Reed, Tim Conway, Don Adams, Cass Elliot and Jonathan Winters. The guests either bring the gang a haunted problem or get caught up in one, and help unmask the villain, who is still a person in a costume. The show aired on CBS for two seasons, 1972 and 1973, with 24 episodes in all, and it was the first Scooby-Doo series to give the gang longer stories.

How The New Scooby-Doo Movies ends

The New Scooby-Doo Movies has no finale. The last episode, "Scooby-Doo Meets Dick Van Dyke" (1973), has Dick Van Dyke and the gang solve a haunting at a carnival, and the series stops there, after two seasons on CBS. The gang returned in The Scooby-Doo Show in 1976, and the guest-star format came back decades later in Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? (2019).

The Scooby-Doo Show recap

After moving from CBS to ABC, the gang returns to half-hour mysteries in the style of the original show: a stop in a new town, a monster scaring off the locals, a chase, a trap and an unmasking. The difference is that the cast grows. Scooby's goofy country cousin, Scooby-Dum, joins the gang on several cases, and his slow-witted enthusiasm adds to Shaggy and Scooby's panic. Velma is now voiced by Pat Stevens. The 40 episodes first aired as segments inside larger packages: The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour in 1976, Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics in 1977, and in 1978 Scooby's All-Stars and a new run under the old Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! title. The episodes were collected as The Scooby-Doo Show in reruns from 1980.

How The Scooby-Doo Show ends

The Scooby-Doo Show ended without a finale. Its last new mysteries aired on ABC in December 1978, and each case simply closed with another unmasking, with no wrap-up for the gang or Scooby-Dum. The next series, Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo (1979), kept the full gang but added Scooby's nephew Scrappy, who would change the franchise's format for the next several years.

Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo recap

Scooby's tiny nephew Scrappy-Doo joins the gang. Where his uncle runs from monsters, Scrappy wants to fight them, shouting "Puppy power!" and charging at anything in a sheet while Scooby and Shaggy drag him away. The first season, in 1979 and 1980, keeps the full gang, Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy, in half-hour mysteries with fake monsters. From 1980 the format changes sharply. Fred and Velma leave, Daphne is gone for a few years too, and Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy star in short seven-minute comedy adventures, first on The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show and then The Scooby and Scrappy-Doo/Puppy Hour. In these the monsters are often real and the stories are slapstick rather than mysteries. Daphne returns in The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show (1983), which goes back to longer mystery stories, renamed The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries in 1984.

How Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo ends

The Scrappy-Doo era ended without a finale; The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries closed its run in December 1984 after a single season on ABC. Scrappy, Scooby, Shaggy and Daphne went straight into The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo (1985), and Scrappy carried on in the late-1980s TV films before disappearing from the franchise, later returning as the villain of the 2002 live-action film.

The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo recap

In the Himalayas, two bumbling ghosts, Bogel and Weerd, trick Scooby and Shaggy into opening the Chest of Demons, and thirteen of the worst ghosts and demons on Earth escape. Because they let them out, only they can put them back. Shaggy, Scooby, Scrappy and Daphne, joined by a young con artist named Flim-Flam, set out to recapture them one at a time, guided through a crystal ball by the warlock Vincent Van Ghoul, voiced by Vincent Price. Fred and Velma do not appear. Unlike the usual Scooby-Doo formula, every ghost in this show is real, and the episodes play as spooky comedy adventures rather than mysteries. Bogel and Weerd keep turning up to help the escaped ghosts in the hope of earning a reward. The series ran on ABC in 1985 for 13 episodes.

How The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo ends

The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo ended without a finale. It was cancelled after 13 episodes with only twelve of the thirteen ghosts back in the chest, and ABC replaced it with reruns early in 1986. The story was finally closed 34 years later in the direct-to-video film Scooby-Doo! and the Curse of the 13th Ghost (2019), in which the whole gang, Fred and Velma included, helps Vincent Van Ghoul find the last ghost.

Scooby-Doo Meets the Boo Brothers recap

Shaggy inherits Beauregard Manor, a Southern estate left to him by his late uncle, Colonel Beauregard, and drives there with Scooby and Scrappy. On the way they pass a cemetery full of ghosts, including the Colonel's, who warns them to go back. The house comes with a sinister butler, Farquard, rumours of hidden family jewels and a clue left by the Colonel that starts a treasure hunt. Scrappy calls in ghost exterminators, the Boo Brothers, who turn out to be three slapstick ghosts in the style of the Three Stooges. Sadie Mae Scroggins, a local girl, decides she will marry Shaggy, while her brother Billy Bob wants to shoot him over an old family feud. A Skull Ghost finally corners them at the fireplace, where the treasure is hidden, and is buried when the jewels pour out. He is unmasked as T.J. Buzby, twin brother of the town sheriff. Shaggy gives the mansion to the Boo Brothers and the treasure to an orphans' fund.

How Scooby-Doo Meets the Boo Brothers ends

The gang unmasks the Skull Ghost as T.J. Buzby, the sheriff's greedy twin, who wanted the Beauregard treasure. Shaggy hands the house to the Boo Brothers, who need somewhere to haunt, and donates the treasure to orphans. As they drive home, the Colonel's ghost appears again and Shaggy speeds off. It was the first feature-length Scooby-Doo film, followed in 1988 by Ghoul School and The Reluctant Werewolf.

A Pup Named Scooby-Doo recap

The gang as twelve-year-olds in Coolsville: Freddie, who blames every crime on the local bully Red Herring; Daphne, a rich girl with a butler named Jenkins; Velma, a tiny genius who says "Jinkies"; Shaggy, already hungry and already scared; and a puppy Scooby-Doo. They run a detective agency together and solve cases around town, from haunted schools to monsters at the local diner. Developed by Tom Ruegger, who went on to make Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs, the show is a loud, fast comedy that pokes fun at the franchise's own habits: chases set to rock songs, wildly exaggerated reactions and constant fourth-wall jokes. Fred's accusations against Red Herring are a running gag, and Red Herring is only actually guilty once. The series aired on ABC from 1988 to 1991, for 27 episodes over four seasons.

How A Pup Named Scooby-Doo ends

A Pup Named Scooby-Doo has no finale; its last episodes aired on ABC in 1991, after four seasons, and the kids never grow up within the show. It was the last new Scooby-Doo TV series until What's New, Scooby-Doo? in 2002. Its kid designs returned in the 2013 direct-to-video film Scooby-Doo! Adventures: The Mystery Map, and the idea of a younger gang came back in the live-action The Mystery Begins (2009).

Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School recap

Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy take jobs as gym teachers at Miss Grimwood's Finishing School for Girls, which turns out to be a school for the daughters of monsters. The students are Sibella, Dracula's daughter; Elsa Frankenteen, daughter of Frankenstein's monster; Winnie, the Wolfman's daughter; Tanis, the Mummy's daughter; and Phantasma, a ghost. Shaggy and Scooby want to run, but the girls win them over. They coach the girls to a volleyball win over the cadets of the neighbouring Calloway Military Academy and survive a parents' visit from the monster fathers, who warn them to keep their daughters safe. The witch Revolta, with her henchman the Grim Creeper, wants the girls as her slaves. She hypnotises Shaggy into taking them on a field trip to Barren Bog, captures them and plans to give them an evil potion at midnight. Shaggy, Scooby, Scrappy and Miss Grimwood's pet dragon Matches storm her castle.

How Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School ends

At midnight, Shaggy and Scooby reverse Revolta's potion just as it reaches the girls, and Elsa throws the witch's wand into the brew, blowing up her lab. The Calloway cadets, now on the girls' side, fly everyone out in a pedal-powered helicopter while Revolta swears revenge. At a party back at school, new monster parents arrive to enrol their daughters, and Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy flee in terror.

Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf recap

Every year Count Dracula hosts the Monster Road Rally in Transylvania, but the Wolfman has retired to Florida and the race needs a werewolf. Dracula's spellbook names Shaggy as the right candidate, so he sends his hunchbacked henchmen, Brunch and Crunch, to transform him under a full moon. After two failed tries, they get him at a drive-in, and Shaggy, Scooby, Scrappy and Shaggy's girlfriend Googie are carried off to Dracula's castle. Dracula makes a deal: if Shaggy wins the race, he will be turned back into a human and allowed to go home; if he loses, he stays a werewolf forever. Dracula then does everything he can to make him lose, with traps, rerouted tracks, sabotage of Shaggy's Werewolf Wagon and finally a giant gorilla. Googie keeps repairing the car and Scrappy fights off the saboteurs, and Shaggy crosses the line first.

How Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf ends

Dracula refuses to honour the deal and claims there is no cure, but his wife tells the gang it is in his spellbook, which they steal. Dracula chases them, is struck by lightning and falls into the sea, and the gang escapes home, where Googie uses the book to turn Shaggy human again. In the last scene, Dracula and his henchmen watch from outside the window, swearing revenge.

Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island recap

Mystery Inc. has split up because every monster turns out to be a man in a mask. Daphne now hosts a TV show about haunted places, and Fred reunites the gang for a road trip to find a real ghost, but they find only more fakes. In New Orleans, a cook named Lena invites them to Moonscar Island, a pepper plantation said to be haunted by the pirate Morgan Moonscar. They meet Lena's employer Simone Lenoir, a gardener named Beau and a hostile fisherman, Snakebite Scruggs. That night zombies rise from the bayou, and when Fred pulls a zombie's head off, it is not a mask. Velma realises Lena lied about Simone's kidnapping, and the gang finds a voodoo chamber. Simone, Lena and the ferryman Jacques are cat creatures, settlers cursed centuries ago to live forever by draining the life of visitors every harvest moon. The zombies are their past victims, trying to warn people away.

How Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island ends

Shaggy and Scooby break up the ritual and the gang escapes, and when the harvest moon passes, the cat creatures crumble to dust and the zombies' spirits are freed. Beau reveals he is an undercover police detective investigating the island's disappearances. The gang leaves the next morning, having finally found real monsters. The film started a run of direct-to-video Scooby-Doo films and got a sequel, Return to Zombie Island, in 2019.

Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost recap

The horror novelist Ben Ravencroft, a writer Velma admires, invites the gang to his hometown of Oakhaven, Massachusetts. The town is promoting a tourist attraction built around Ben's ancestor Sarah Ravencroft, who was executed as a witch in the 1600s, and her ghost seems to be terrorising the autumn festival. Ben claims Sarah was really a Wiccan healer persecuted by her neighbours. Fred and Daphne suspect the Hex Girls, a goth rock trio led by Thorn, after seeing them mix something that looks like a potion. The gang unmasks the ghost as Mr. McKnight, Thorn's father, who faked the haunting to bring tourists to town, and the potion was a remedy for Thorn's voice. But the mystery was a setup. Ben is a warlock who used the gang to find Sarah's spellbook, and he releases her real ghost so she can share her power with him.

How Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost ends

Sarah is a true witch and turns on Ben, trapping him in a magic sphere. Velma discovers that Thorn, a distant descendant of a Wiccan, can send Sarah back into the book, and Thorn reads the spell. Sarah is drawn back into the book, and a burning branch falls on it and destroys it, so neither Ravencroft can return. The Hex Girls play a concert to rebuild the town, and they became recurring characters in later films and What's New, Scooby-Doo?

Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders recap

The Mystery Machine breaks down in the desert after Shaggy and Scooby are chased by a spaceship and little green aliens. In the nearby town, locals report cattle disappearing and lights in the night sky, and the gang meets a group of alien hunters, Max, Laura and Steve. Shaggy and Scooby meet Crystal, a photographer, and her dog Amber, and the two pairs fall for each other as they spend time together in the desert. Velma notices dried mud on the alien hunters' boots in a place with no water. Following the clue to a canyon, the gang finds mining equipment and gold in the caves, and they are captured by the aliens and by military police. Shaggy and Scooby, knocked off a ledge, are left to find help on their own.

How Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders ends

The aliens are unmasked as Max, Laura and Steve, who found an old gold mine on government land and dressed as aliens to keep people away, with hired men playing the military police. Then Crystal and Amber reveal they are real aliens, and they free the gang. They admit they caused the crash that stranded the Mystery Machine, say goodbye to Shaggy and Scooby and leave Earth. The villains are arrested and the gang drives on.

Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase recap

The gang visits a college where their friend Eric Staufer has built a video game based on their adventures, along with a laser that can beam real objects into a computer. A monster called the Phantom Virus has come out of the game and attacked Eric, and it keeps terrorising the campus. The suspects include Professor Kaufman, Eric's friend Bill and Officer Wembley. Someone uses the laser to zap the gang into the game, where they must find a box of Scooby Snacks on each level to move on, while the Phantom Virus hunts them. On the final level they meet cyber versions of themselves, and the two gangs team up in a digital amusement park full of monsters from their old cases.

How Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase ends

The Cyber Scooby distracts the Phantom Virus while the real Scooby reaches the last box of Scooby Snacks, which deletes the virus and sends everyone back to the real world. The gang unmasks Bill, Eric's best friend, who created the virus out of jealousy because Eric's game beat his in the science fair, and Officer Wembley arrests him. After an argument over who gets the credit, Mystery Inc. breaks up, leaving Shaggy and Scooby on their own. Two years later each member is invited separately to Spooky Island, a horror-themed spring break resort run by Emile Mondavarious, whose guests are leaving with their personalities changed. Fred, Daphne and Velma each want to solve the case alone, and only Shaggy hopes for a reunion. Real demons are stealing the students' souls. Freddie Prinze Jr. plays Fred, Sarah Michelle Gellar plays Daphne, Matthew Lillard plays Shaggy and Linda Cardellini plays Velma, with a computer-animated Scooby. Raja Gosnell directed from a script by James Gunn.

Scrappy absorbs the souls and becomes a giant monster, but Daphne turns sunlight on the demons with a disco ball and Shaggy pulls the artefact off Scrappy, who is arrested. The real Mondavarious is found and the gang reunites. The sequel, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, followed in 2004.

What's New, Scooby-Doo? recap

The original gang returns in a modern setting, with laptops, cell phones and a Mystery Machine full of gadgets, but the format is the classic one: travel somewhere, meet a monster, set a trap, unmask the culprit. The characters are close to their 1969 selves. Fred is obsessed with building elaborate traps that usually fail, Daphne has learned to defend herself, Velma is the brains, and Shaggy and Scooby are still hungry and scared. Casey Kasem returns as Shaggy after several years away, and Frank Welker, the voice of Fred, now also voices Scooby. The gang travels widely, to Scotland, Mexico, Hawaii, Egypt, Japan and an Antarctic research station, and recurring characters include the Hex Girls and Velma's awkward admirer Gibby Norton. The pop punk band Simple Plan performs the theme and appears in one episode. The series aired on Kids' WB from 2002 to 2006, for 42 episodes over three seasons.

How What's New, Scooby-Doo? ends

What's New, Scooby-Doo? ended without a finale. The last episode, "E-Scream", has the gang at a video game convention where cuddly characters turn evil, and it turns out the whole mystery was a virtual reality test Velma was running. The show led into Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get a Clue! (2006), and its designs and voice cast carried on in the direct-to-video films of the period.

Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed recap

The gang is celebrating the opening of the Coolsonian Criminology Museum, which displays costumes from their old cases, when an Evil Masked Figure steals two of them and promises to destroy Mystery Inc. A TV journalist, Heather Jasper-Howe, starts a smear campaign against the gang. Shaggy and Scooby, blaming themselves for the mess, decide to become real detectives. The suspects include Jeremiah Wickles, once the Black Knight Ghost, and the museum curator Patrick Wisely. In an old mine, Shaggy and Scooby find a machine that turns the stolen costumes into living monsters, and soon the gang's old foes, including the Black Knight Ghost, the Pterodactyl Ghost and the Tar Monster, are loose in Coolsville. The cast returns from the first film, with Seth Green as Patrick, Peter Boyle as Wickles, Tim Blake Nelson as Jonathan Jacobo and Alicia Silverstone as Heather.

How Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed ends

Fred sets a net trap with Shaggy and Scooby as bait, and then two monsters appear at once.

Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby are teenagers in Crystal Cove, a town that lives off its reputation as the most haunted place on Earth, and the adults, including Fred's father, the mayor, and Sheriff Stone, hate the kids for unmasking every monster. Each episode has a classic fake-monster case, but the show is serialized. A mysterious caller, Mr. E, pushes the gang toward the town's secret history: a cursed Spanish treasure, the disappearance of an earlier group of teen sleuths called the original Mystery Incorporated, and a sinister parrot, Professor Pericles. The relationships change as the story goes. Shaggy and Velma date in secret and break up, Daphne waits for Fred to notice her, Fred learns the mayor is not his real father, and the gang splits apart and reunites. In season 2 they learn that groups of four people and an animal have lived in Crystal Cove for centuries, all tied to an evil entity buried beneath the town, and they race Pericles to collect the pieces of a disk that opens its prison. It aired on Cartoon Network from 2010 to 2013, for 52 episodes over two seasons.

In the series finale, "Come Undone", Pericles frees the Evil Entity, which turns him into a monster and starts taking over Crystal Cove. The gang realises their friendship is the key to beating it, and Scooby destroys the sarcophagus, wiping out the Entity and its curse. Harlan Ellison, who remembers everything, sends them to Miskatonic University, and they drive off in the Mystery Machine looking for new mysteries.

Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster recap

A live-action sequel to The Mystery Begins. To work off damages from an earlier case, the gang takes summer jobs at the country club run by Daphne's uncle Thorny in Erie Point, and on opening night a giant frog monster attacks. The local lighthouse keeper tells them the legend of Wanda Grubwort, a witch driven from town centuries ago who turned a frog into a lake monster with her staff. The friendships come under strain: Fred and Daphne have started dating and struggle, Shaggy has a crush on Velma, and Scooby feels left out. As the attacks continue, clues point to Velma, and the gang learns that Wanda's spirit has possessed her. The cast and Frank Welker return from the first film, and it premiered on Cartoon Network in 2010.

How Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster ends

In caves under the lake, the possessed Velma turns frogs into monsters, until Shaggy sings her favourite song and gets through to her, and she breaks free of Wanda. Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! recap

The gang is out of high school and taking the Mystery Machine on what may be their last summer road trip together, and monsters keep turning up wherever they go. The tone is pure comedy. Fred is earnest and obsessed with traps and the van, Daphne is cheerful and odd, Velma is a cynical know-it-all who would rather do almost anything else, and Shaggy and Scooby want food and a quiet life. Scooby speaks less than usual. The episodes still follow the monster, chase, trap and unmasking pattern, but most of the show is the characters' strange conversations and running jokes, and there are recurring villains, including a mad scientist called Professor Huh?. The characters were redesigned in a simpler style, and Kate Micucci took over as Velma. The show premiered on Cartoon Network in 2015 and finished on Boomerang and its streaming service, for 52 episodes over two seasons.

How Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! ends

Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! has no single finale. The two-part "Professor Huh?" story, in which the gang finally confronts the mad scientist who has been behind several of their cases, is treated as the chronological end, though it was not the last to air. The final episodes were broadcast on Boomerang in March 2018. The franchise moved on to Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? the following year.

The characters are close to their classic versions, with Matthew Lillard voicing Shaggy, Frank Welker as Fred and Scooby, Grey DeLisle as Daphne and Kate Micucci as Velma. The series aired on Boomerang and Cartoon Network from 2019, then moved to HBO Max, with 52 episodes over two seasons ending in 2021.

How Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? ends

Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? ended without a finale. The last episode, "The Movieland Monsters!", has Carol Burnett asking the gang to test her virtual reality movie world, which a ghostly monster is sabotaging. The series wrapped up quietly after two seasons and 52 episodes. It was the last traditional Scooby-Doo series to date; the next was Velma (2023), an adult reboot in its own continuity.

Scoob! recap

Shaggy, a lonely boy in Venice Beach, adopts a stray puppy he names Scooby-Doo, and on Halloween they meet Fred, Daphne and Velma and solve their first mystery together. Years later Mystery Inc. is looking for an investor, who says Shaggy and Scooby are dead weight, and the two walk out hurt. They are then attacked by robots belonging to the villain Dick Dastardly and rescued by the Falcon Force: Blue Falcon, the vain son of the original hero; his robot dog Dynomutt; and the pilot Dee Dee Skyes. Dastardly needs Scooby, because he is descended from Peritas, the dog of Alexander the Great, and only Scooby can open the gates to the Underworld and the treasure behind them. He is also collecting the three skulls of Cerberus, the guardian of the Underworld. Captain Caveman guards one skull in a lost world. Will Forte voices Shaggy, Frank Welker voices Scooby, and Zac Efron, Amanda Seyfried and Gina Rodriguez voice Fred, Daphne and Velma.

How Scoob! ends

Dastardly opens the Underworld and releases Cerberus, and the gang and the Falcon Force force it back. Shaggy stays behind to hold the gate shut, but Scooby finds a way through and brings him out, and Dastardly and Muttley are captured. Mystery Inc. opens a new headquarters, and the Falcon Force gives them an upgraded Mystery Machine. Because of the pandemic, the film was released digitally in the US in 2020. A prequel, Scoob! Holiday Haunt, was cancelled in 2022.

Velma recap

An adult animated comedy that reimagines the gang as teenagers in Crystal Cove before they were Mystery Inc. Velma Dinkley, voiced by Mindy Kaling, is a sharp-tongued high school student who stopped solving mysteries after her mother Diya disappeared. When popular girls at school start turning up murdered with their brains removed and Velma becomes a suspect, she investigates with her estranged best friend Daphne, Fred, a spoiled and clueless rich boy, and Norville Rogers, who is in love with her. There is no Scooby-Doo. The show leans on sex jokes, gore and parodies of the franchise, and changes the characters' backgrounds and races. In season 1 the trail leads into Crystal Cove's secrets and the truth about Diya. Season 2 makes Velma a local celebrity while the killings continue, and the investigation reaches a secret program called Project S.C.O.O.B.I. Charlie Grandy created the show, which ran on HBO Max for two seasons in 2023 and 2024, plus a Halloween special.

How Velma ends

At the end of season 2, Velma is fatally wounded by Scrappy-Doo, who is killed in the fight. The Halloween special that followed in October 2024 has the friends trying to bring her back, and it ends with Fred using a powerful spellbook to revive her at her own funeral. HBO Max cancelled Velma days later, in October 2024, after two seasons, leaving it with no further follow-up.
