The story

Everyone’s favorite mystery-solving Great Dane is here to find clues, along with a little help from his energetic nephew and four human companions.

Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo recap

Scooby's tiny nephew Scrappy-Doo joins the gang. Where his uncle runs from monsters, Scrappy wants to fight them, shouting "Puppy power!" and charging at anything in a sheet while Scooby and Shaggy drag him away. The first season, in 1979 and 1980, keeps the full gang, Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy, in half-hour mysteries with fake monsters. From 1980 the format changes sharply. Fred and Velma leave, Daphne is gone for a few years too, and Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy star in short seven-minute comedy adventures, first on The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show and then The Scooby and Scrappy-Doo/Puppy Hour. In these the monsters are often real and the stories are slapstick rather than mysteries. Daphne returns in The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show (1983), which goes back to longer mystery stories, renamed The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries in 1984.

Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo ending explained

The Scrappy-Doo era ended without a finale; The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries closed its run in December 1984 after a single season on ABC. Scrappy, Scooby, Shaggy and Daphne went straight into The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo (1985), and Scrappy carried on in the late-1980s TV films before disappearing from the franchise, later returning as the villain of the 2002 live-action film.
