The story
A group of misfits encounter a young Yeti named Everest, and they set off to reunite the magical creature with his family on the mountain of his namesake.
Abominable recap
A young yeti escapes from Burnish Industries in Shanghai, where the wealthy explorer Mr. Burnish kept him to prove yetis exist. Yi, a teenage girl grieving her father and avoiding her family, finds the yeti hiding on her roof, names him Everest and decides to get him home to Mount Everest. Her neighbours, the basketball-loving Peng and his image-conscious cousin Jin, end up coming along. Burnish and the zoologist Dr. Zara hunt them across China. Everest's humming makes plants grow and the weather change, and the friends ride a giant dandelion and a cloud of fish. Along the way Yi plays her late father's violin again, and she sees the places he dreamed of visiting.
Abominable ending explained
Burnish sees Everest protecting the children and turns against capturing him, but Zara wants to sell the yeti and throws Yi off a bridge. Yi uses her violin to revive Everest's power, and Zara causes an avalanche that sweeps her away. The children deliver Everest to his family on the mountain, and Yi returns home to her mother and grandmother.
Post-credits scenes
