Coco recap

In Mexico, twelve-year-old Miguel Rivera dreams of being a musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz, but his family has banned music since his great-great-grandfather left to play and never returned. On the Day of the Dead, Miguel becomes convinced that Ernesto is that ancestor, and steals Ernesto's guitar from his tomb to play in a talent show. This curses him into the Land of the Dead, where he meets his dead relatives, led by his great-great-grandmother Imelda, who will only send him home if he gives up music. Miguel runs off to find Ernesto and meets Hector, a trickster who is fading because no one living remembers him. Miguel finds Ernesto, who poisoned Hector years ago and stole his songs, including "Remember Me". Hector is Miguel's real great-great-grandfather.

Coco ending explained

Imelda and the family help expose Ernesto, who is crushed by a giant bell before a cheering crowd. Imelda blesses Miguel with no conditions, and he returns home just in time to sing "Remember Me" to his great-grandmother Coco, Hector's daughter, who remembers her father and saves him from fading. A year later, Coco has died, the family has welcomed music back, and Hector visits the family altar with Imelda.
