The story

When Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life, he discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.

Moon Knight recap

Steven Grant, a gift shop worker in London, loses time in blackouts and wakes up in strange places. He shares a body with Marc Spector, an American mercenary who serves as the avatar of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. Arthur Harrow, Khonshu's former avatar, now leads a cult devoted to the goddess Ammit, who would judge people for crimes before they commit them, and he wants a golden scarab to find her tomb. Marc's wife, Layla El-Faouly, joins the hunt in Egypt. Harrow shoots Marc, who wakes in a psychiatric hospital that turns out to be the Duat, the afterlife, guided by the hippo goddess Taweret. Marc and Steven relive Marc's childhood: his younger brother Randall drowned, his mother blamed Marc and abused him, and Steven was created as an escape.

Moon Knight ending explained

Steven sacrifices himself for Marc, and Marc goes back for him, and Taweret returns both to life. Layla briefly becomes Taweret's avatar, and Khonshu and Ammit fight as giants over Cairo while Moon Knight beats Harrow. Marc and Steven think they are free of Khonshu, but a third personality, Jake Lockley, still serves Khonshu and kills Harrow.
