Terror of Mechagodzilla recap

Interpol searches the sea for Mechagodzilla's wreckage, but its submarine is destroyed by Titanosaurus, a giant aquatic dinosaur. The marine biologist Akira Ichinose links it to Dr. Shinzo Mafune, a disgraced scientist who swore revenge on humanity and found a way to control the monster. Mafune's daughter Katsura was secretly rebuilt as a cyborg after an accident in one of his experiments, and the Simeon leader Mugal has teamed up with Mafune. The Simeons rebuild Mechagodzilla and place its controls inside Katsura. Ichinose falls in love with her, and she steals Interpol's notes on the supersonic weakness of Titanosaurus. Mafune sends Titanosaurus into Yokosuka without waiting for the Simeons, and Godzilla drives it off. The Simeons then capture Ichinose, and Mechagodzilla 2 and Titanosaurus attack Tokyo together, with Godzilla arriving to fight both.

Terror of Mechagodzilla ending explained

Godzilla destroys Mechagodzilla 2 and Titanosaurus, and Katsura dies by her own hand to break her link to the robot. Interpol raids the base, kills Mafune and the Simeons, and repairs its supersonic weapon to weaken Titanosaurus. Katsura dies in Ichinose's arms, and Godzilla returns to the sea. This was the last Showa film, and Godzilla stayed off screen for nine years.
