A young girl turns into an A-List celebrity over night when her private journal is accidently published and becomes a best-seller.
Read It and Weep recap
Jamie Bartlett is a high school freshman who keeps a private journal on her tablet in which she becomes Isabella, or "Is," a popular girl with special powers who takes down a mean girl, Myrna, based on Jamie's real rival Sawyer. When Jamie's printer breaks, she sends her friend Lindsay the wrong file, and the journal gets submitted for an English assignment instead of her essay. It wins a contest, is published, and becomes a bestseller. Fame changes Jamie: with Is cheering her on in her head, she does signings and talk shows, quits helping at her parents' pizza place, mocks her brother Lenny's music and drifts from her friends Connor, Lindsay and Harmony. On a TV interview she lets slip that the book is real and Myrna is Sawyer, and the whole school turns on her.
Read It and Weep ending explained
Jamie tells Is to stop running her life, apologises at the school dance, and her classmates forgive her once they learn the book was a private journal she never meant to publish. She realises her feelings are for Connor, who secretly wrote the poems her crush Marco had been passing off, and they kiss while Lenny plays a song for her. At the pizza parlour, a seaweed-covered jacket lands on the pizzas and the accidental recipe saves her parents' business.
