The story
Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren take on one last terrifying case involving mysterious entities they must confront.
The Conjuring: Last Rites recap
In 1964, the Warrens investigate a haunted antique mirror, and Lorraine has a vision that sends her into early labour; their daughter Judy is born not breathing and revives after Lorraine prays. In 1986, the Smurl family moves into a house in West Pittston, Pennsylvania, and grandfather John gives his granddaughter Heather the mirror as a confirmation gift. The family is tormented by spirits of an old woman, a young woman and a man with an axe. Ed's failing heart has made the Warrens retire. Judy, now an adult with visions of her own, is dating a former police officer, Tony Spera. A priest the Smurls turn to is driven to suicide by the demon, and Judy, seeing a vision at his funeral, goes to Pennsylvania alone, so Ed, Lorraine and Tony follow. Lorraine finds that the mirror holds the same demon from their first case and that it wants Judy.
The Conjuring: Last Rites ending explained
The demon possesses Judy, triggers Ed's heart trouble and attacks Lorraine. Ed cuts Judy down when she tries to hang herself, and Lorraine revives her. Lorraine tells Judy to accept her gift, and together they pray and shatter the mirror. The Smurls live in peace afterwards, and the mirror goes into the museum. Later, Ed walks Judy down the aisle at her wedding to Tony, and Lorraine sees a future of family and adventure.
