With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Star Trek Into Darkness recap

Kirk loses command after breaking the Prime Directive to save Spock on a primitive planet. A Starfleet agent, John Harrison, bombs a Starfleet archive in London and attacks a meeting of commanders, killing Pike. Admiral Marcus sends Kirk to kill Harrison on the Klingon homeworld with 72 new long-range torpedoes. Kirk captures him instead, and Harrison reveals that he is Khan, a 300-year-old genetically engineered man revived by Marcus to design weapons, and that his frozen crew is inside the torpedoes. Marcus arrives in a giant warship, the Vengeance, to destroy the Enterprise and cover it up. Kirk and Khan team up to take the Vengeance, and Khan turns on them.

Star Trek Into Darkness ending explained

Khan crashes the Vengeance into San Francisco. The Enterprise's warp core is misaligned, and Kirk climbs into the radiation and fixes it, dying behind glass in front of Spock.
