Resident Evil is #12 of 14 in release order and #13 of 14 in chronological order in the Resident Evil.

The story

Years after a viral outbreak caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker vows to bring down those responsible while fighting to survive against the Infected.

Resident Evil recap

The single season runs in two timelines. In 2022, the twins Jade and Billie Wesker move with their father, Albert, an Umbrella scientist, to New Raccoon City, a company town in South Africa where Umbrella is preparing to launch a new antidepressant, Joy, made from the T-virus. Billie is bitten by an infected dog and becomes infected, and Jade learns that Umbrella's CEO Evelyn Marcus is hiding what the drug does. Albert, one of several clones of the original Wesker, reveals that the girls were engineered and that their blood keeps him alive. In 2036, fourteen years after Joy started an outbreak that infected six billion people, the adult Jade is a scientist studying the "zeroes" in the ruins of Europe while hiding from Umbrella. She is captured and escapes, and kills a zero queen. Umbrella's forces close in on Jade, her husband Arjun and their daughter Bea. Jade finds a way to attract the zeroes and sends a swarm against an Umbrella base, but Umbrella's drones wipe them out.

Resident Evil ending explained

In 2036, Billie, now commanding Umbrella's forces, shoots Jade when she offers to surrender in exchange for her daughter, and Jade gets up again; the story stops there. In 2022, Evelyn shoots Albert, and Billie turns out to have been controlling Umbrella. A contact Albert left for Jade is revealed to be Ada Wong. Netflix cancelled the series after one season, so none of this is resolved.
