Resident Evil recap

Inside the Hive, a secret Umbrella laboratory under Raccoon City, someone releases the T-virus, and the facility's computer, the Red Queen, seals the building and kills everyone inside. Alice wakes with no memory in a mansion above it, along with a police officer, Matt Addison, before an Umbrella commando team storms in. The team, led by One and including Rain Ocampo, takes them down to shut the Red Queen off. Another amnesiac, Spence, turns out to be Alice's partner as a security operative. One and much of the team are cut apart by lasers in a corridor, and when the Red Queen goes offline, the doors open and the dead staff come back as zombies. Rain is bitten. Alice remembers she was planning to expose Umbrella with Matt's sister, and that Spence stole the virus to sell, releasing it to cover his escape.

Resident Evil ending explained

Alice and Matt escape the Hive, but Umbrella takes them away, and Alice wakes alone in a hospital to find Raccoon City overrun. A Licker, a mutated creature, kills Spence and Rain turns, and the Licker slashes Matt as the survivors reach the train. When the blast doors close, Umbrella scientists seize them and send Matt into the Nemesis program. Alice walks out of the empty hospital into a ruined Raccoon City with a shotgun.
