The story

In one of Paris's finest restaurants, Remy, a determined young rat, dreams of becoming a renowned French chef. Torn between his family's wishes and his true calling, Remy and his pal Linguini set in motion a hilarious chain of events that turns the City of Lights upside down.

Ratatouille recap

Remy, a rat in the French countryside, has a gift for taste and smell and idolises the late chef Auguste Gusteau, whose motto is "Anyone can cook". Separated from his colony, Remy ends up in Paris at Gusteau's restaurant, now run by the greedy head chef Skinner. Remy saves a soup ruined by the clumsy garbage boy Alfredo Linguini, and the two form a partnership: Remy hides under Linguini's hat and steers him by pulling his hair. The soup becomes a sensation, and the cook Colette trains Linguini. Skinner discovers that Linguini is Gusteau's son and rightful heir; Remy finds the proof, and Linguini takes over the restaurant. Linguini, getting famous, pushes Remy away, and Remy lets his family raid the kitchen.

Ratatouille ending explained

The critic Anton Ego, who gave Gusteau's a bad review, comes to dinner. Linguini reveals the truth about Remy, and the staff walks out. Remy's family cooks, Colette returns, and Remy serves Ego ratatouille, which reminds him of his mother's cooking. Ego writes a glowing review, but health inspectors close the restaurant. Ego invests in a new bistro, La Ratatouille, run by Linguini and Colette with Remy as chef.

Post-credits scenes

No. There is no post-credits scene; a hand-drawn Remy and other rats animate during the credits, ending with a rat on the Pixar logo.
