The story

Monsters University recap

As a boy on a school trip to Monsters, Inc., Mike Wazowski decides to be a scarer. Years later, he arrives at Monsters University, studies hard, and clashes with James P. Sullivan, a lazy student from a famous scaring family. Their feud breaks a canister belonging to the strict Dean Hardscrabble, and she drops both from the scaring program; Mike, she says, is simply not scary. Mike joins the misfit fraternity Oozma Kappa, and they enter the Scare Games for a chance to be readmitted, with Sulley joining when no one else will have him. Oozma Kappa, coached by Mike, keeps surviving and wins the final. Mike discovers that Sulley rigged the simulator so he would succeed.

Monsters University ending explained

Hurt, Mike breaks into the door lab and goes into a real human world, a summer camp, where he fails to scare the children. Sulley follows, and together they produce a scream so big it blows the door off from the other side. Both are expelled, but Hardscrabble is impressed. They take jobs in the Monsters, Inc. mailroom and work their way up to the scare floor as a team.

Post-credits scenes

During the credits, trading cards show the Monsters, Inc. scarers. After the credits, Squishy's slow-moving classmate, the slug, finally arrives for the first day of class, only to be told the school year is over.
