Legion of Super Heroes recap
Legion of Super Heroes (2006) brings a teenage Clark Kent to the 31st century to join a team of young heroes and grow into Superman. Developed by Amy Wolfram and produced by James Tucker, it ran on Kids' WB, by then part of The CW, for two seasons and 26 episodes from September 23, 2006, to April 5, 2008. The Legionnaires bring Clark (Yuri Lowenthal), about to leave Smallville for Metropolis, to their time, where he takes the name Superman and learns to control his powers alongside Lightning Lad (Andy Milder), Saturn Girl (Kari Wahlgren), Brainiac 5 (Adam Wylie), Phantom Girl, Bouncing Boy, Triplicate Girl and Timber Wolf. Bouncing Boy is elected leader late in the first season, which ends with Clark returning to the present around the moment he left. The second season, set two years later and darker in tone, brings Superman back to fight the conqueror Imperiex alongside Superman X (also Lowenthal), a clone from the 41st century, and centres on Brainiac 5's struggle with his ancestor, the original Brainiac. Lightning Lad loses an arm to Imperiex and gains a robotic one, Chameleon Boy becomes a regular, and Triplicate Girl, after losing one of her selves, becomes Duo Damsel. The show was first developed for Cartoon Network around the release of Superman Returns, and Kids' WB picked it up when Cartoon Network passed.
Legion of Super Heroes ending explained
Legion of Super Heroes ends with the two-part "Dark Victory," aired March 29 and April 5, 2008. Brainiac 5 falls under the original Brainiac's control, kills Imperiex, takes over the Dominators and seemingly kills Superman with kryptonite; Superman X saves him, and Saturn Girl takes both Supermen into Brainiac 5's mind to free him. Everything he digitized is restored, Brainiac 5 leaves the Legion out of guilt and Superman X returns to his repaired future, while Brainiac secretly rebuilds himself from the discarded armor. A planned third season, set three years later, was cancelled when 4Kids took over the Kids' WB slot.
