The story
Young Johnny is gung-ho and full of courage. Johnny's brainiac twin sisters, Susan and Mary, use Johnny as their guinea pig for their outrageous scientific experiments. If they can dream it up, Johnny will do it; as long as his genetically engineered super dog, Dukey, can come along.
Johnny Test recap
Johnny Test (2005) follows an 11-year-old boy whose genius twin sisters keep using him as the test subject for their experiments. Scott Fellows created it, basing Johnny and his sisters on himself and his own sisters, and Aaron Simpson developed it for Kids' WB, where it premiered on September 17, 2005. Johnny (James Arnold Taylor) lives in Porkbelly with his businesswoman mother Lila, his meatloaf-loving, cleanliness-obsessed father Hugh and his 13-year-old sisters Susan and Mary, who gave the family dog Dukey (Louis Chirillo, later Trevor Devall) the power to talk. Johnny misuses their inventions to dodge chores and homework, causes chaos and then has to fix it, sometimes as the superhero Johnny X alongside Super Dukey. Regulars include the rich rival Bling-Bling Boy, who has a crush on Susan, Johnny's rival and crush Sissy, the bully Bumper, and Mr. Black and Mr. White, government agents who call on the family for secret missions. Warner Bros. Animation made the first season; after The WB merged into The CW, Cookie Jar Entertainment took over with a new crew and Flash animation. The third season, the last on Kids' WB, was meant to end the series, but Cartoon Network picked it up in 2009, and it ran six seasons and 117 episodes until December 25, 2014.
Johnny Test ending explained
Johnny Test ends with "The Last Flight of Johnny X" and "Johnny's Last Chapter," aired on Cartoon Network on December 25, 2014. In the first, Porkbelly is attacked by its 100th monster and the General bans all superhero activity; in the second, Johnny and Dukey are sucked into a history book while learning about Porkbelly's past. On Kids' WB, the run had closed with the two-part Johnny X story "A New Beginning" and "The Final Ending" on March 1, 2008. Netflix revived the show with new episodes in 2021.
