Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba recap

Tanjiro Kamado, a kind charcoal seller, returns home to find his family slaughtered by a demon; only his sister Nezuko survives, turned into a demon herself. The Demon Slayer Giyu Tomioka spares her when she protects Tanjiro, and sends Tanjiro to train under the retired swordsman Sakonji Urokodaki. After two years, Tanjiro masters Water Breathing and survives the Final Selection on a mountain full of demons, joining the Corps. Nezuko, sleeping and muzzled with a bamboo gag, travels in a box on his back and refuses to eat people. In Asakusa, Tanjiro meets Muzan Kibutsuji, the first demon, living as a human with a family, and allies with Tamayo, a doctor who is a demon working on a cure. Tanjiro is joined by Zenitsu Agatsuma, a cowardly swordsman who fights brilliantly when he passes out, and Inosuke Hashibira, a wild boy raised by boars. On Mount Natagumo, the three face a family of spider demons led by Rui of the Twelve Kizuki, and Tanjiro and Nezuko discover new powers in the fight.

Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke recover and train at Shinobu's Butterfly Mansion, learning Total Concentration Breathing, and Muzan kills most of his Lower Moons. Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke and Nezuko board the Mugen Train, where dozens of passengers have disappeared, and meet the Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku, who is investigating. The Lower One demon Enmu puts everyone on board to sleep with tickets that trap them in dreams. Tanjiro dreams of his family alive, but realises it is false and wakes by killing himself in the dream. Enmu has fused with the train itself, making every carriage his body and two hundred passengers his hostages. While Rengoku, Zenitsu and Nezuko guard the carriages, Tanjiro and Inosuke find Enmu's neck in the engine and behead him, and the train derails. Rengoku keeps the passengers alive and treats Tanjiro's wounds.

Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc recap

The Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui, has lost contact with his three wives, who went undercover as courtesans in Yoshiwara, the red-light district. He takes Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke along, disguised as girls, to search three houses. The demon hiding there is Daki, Upper Rank Six, posing as a top courtesan and trapping girls in her obi sashes. Tanjiro fights her and his anger nearly breaks him, while Nezuko, provoked, goes berserk in a half-demon form until Tanjiro calms her with a lullaby. Uzui beheads Daki, but she does not die: her brother Gyutaro emerges from her body, and the two share the rank, so they must be beheaded at the same moment. Gyutaro poisons Uzui and turns the fight into a long battle that levels the district. Uzui's wives join the fight, and Tanjiro, badly wounded, keeps going on willpower.

How Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc ends

Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke behead Daki and Gyutaro at the same time, with Uzui leading the attack despite his wounds. Nezuko burns the poison out of Uzui and Inosuke with her blood demon art. The siblings blame each other as they die, then are reminded of their human lives and reconcile on the way to Hell. Uzui retires from the Corps, and Muzan rages at the loss of an Upper Moon.

Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc recap

Tanjiro's sword is broken again, and he travels to the hidden village of the swordsmiths to find his angry swordsmith Haganezuka. There he meets the Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito, who has lost his memory, and the Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji. Tanjiro trains with an old combat puppet, which turns out to hold a centuries-old sword. Two Upper Moons attack the village: Gyokko, Upper Rank Five, who fights from pots, and Hantengu, Upper Rank Four, who splits into emotion-based clones when beheaded. Tanjiro fights Hantengu with Nezuko and Genya Shinazugawa, a slayer who eats demon flesh to gain their powers. Muichiro recovers his memories and kills Gyokko, and Mitsuri holds off Hantengu's strongest clone, Zohakuten. Haganezuka keeps polishing the old sword through the attack so Tanjiro will have a blade.

How Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc ends

As the sun rises, Tanjiro must choose between saving Nezuko from the sunlight or chasing the real Hantengu. Nezuko pushes him toward the demon, and he kills Hantengu. Nezuko survives the sunlight and can speak, the first demon to conquer it. Muzan learns of this and resolves to capture her. Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc recap

Knowing Muzan will come for Nezuko, the Corps prepares for war. The Hashira run a series of brutal training camps for the lower ranks, and Tanjiro passes from one to the next: Tengen Uzui's endurance training, Muichiro Tokito's speed work, Mitsuri Kanroji's flexibility training, Obanai Iguro's swordplay through an obstacle course of captives, Sanemi Shinazugawa's brutal sparring, and Gyomei Himejima's stone-pushing. Tanjiro persuades the withdrawn Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka, to train with the others, and Sanemi and his brother Genya clash. Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the dying leader of the Corps, works with Tamayo on a drug to turn Muzan human, and the Hashira learn that the marks they have awakened will cost them their lives. Muzan, meanwhile, hunts for Nezuko and searches for the Ubuyashiki home. Gyomei tells Tanjiro what it takes to be a Hashira, and Tanjiro earns his respect by moving the boulder.

Muzan arrives at the Ubuyashiki mansion. Kagaya greets him calmly, then blows himself and his family up in a trap. Tamayo stabs Muzan with her drug, and Gyomei and the other Hashira attack.
