The story
A desperate group of refugees attempts to recolonize Earth 20,000 years after Godzilla took over. But one young man wants revenge above all else.

In the late 20th century, giant monsters appear, and Godzilla destroys them all and drives humanity off Earth. Joined by two alien races, the religious Exif and the technological Bilusaludo, survivors flee on the ship Aratrum. After twenty years in space, failing to find a home, young Captain Haruo Sakaki, whose parents died fleeing Godzilla, pushes to return and kill it. Back at Earth, time dilation means 20,000 years have passed, but Godzilla is still alive. Haruo has a plan to break its electromagnetic shield. The landing party is attacked by winged creatures, and Haruo's friend Eliott Leland dies proving Godzilla's weakness. The Exif priest Metphies backs Haruo and puts him in command. Using a trap in a mountain pass and electromagnetic pulses, the team kills the Godzilla.
Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters ending explained
The Godzilla they kill turns out to be an offspring, and the original, now 300 metres tall, rises from a mountain and wipes out most of the team. Its blasts destroy the landing party's ships and weapons in moments. Haruo is left buried in rubble, watching it walk away and swearing to kill it before he passes out. The story continues in City on the Edge of Battle.
