The story
After the monstrous Bergens invade Troll Village, Princess Poppy, the happiest Troll ever born, and overly-cautious, curmudgeonly outcast Branch set off on a journey to rescue her friends. Their mission is full of adventure and mishaps, as this mismatched duo try to tolerate each other long enough to get the job done.
Trolls recap
The Trolls are tiny, singing, hugging creatures who escaped the Bergens, giants who believe eating a Troll is the only way to be happy. Twenty years later, Princess Poppy throws a loud party that leads Chef, an exiled Bergen, to their village, and she captures a group of Trolls. Poppy sets out to rescue them with Branch, a grey, gloomy survivalist who never sings. In Bergen Town, Chef plans to put the young King Gristle on the throne as her puppet and feed him Trolls. Poppy and Branch find a lovestruck scullery maid, Bridget, and disguise her as Lady Glittersparkles so she can date the King, while the Trolls hide in her hair.
Trolls ending explained
Creek, a Troll Poppy admired, betrays them to Chef, and the Trolls lose their colour. Branch sings for Poppy, his colour returns, and his song revives the others. The Trolls show the Bergens that happiness is already inside them, Chef is exiled, Gristle and Bridget become a couple and Poppy becomes queen.
Post-credits scenes
The Trolls perform a musical number during the credits, and a short scene shows Chef and Creek, cast out of Bergen Town, coming to a grim end.
