The Bad Guys is #41 of 51 in release order and #50 of 51 in chronological order in the DreamWorks Animation.
The story
When the Bad Guys, a crew of criminal animals, are finally caught after years of heists and being the world’s most-wanted villains, Mr. Wolf brokers a deal to save them all from prison.
The Bad Guys recap
Mr. Wolf leads the Bad Guys, a crew of animal criminals: Mr. Snake, the safecracker; Ms. Tarantula, the hacker; Mr. Shark, the master of disguise; and Mr. Piranha. When they try to steal the Golden Dolphin award from the guinea pig philanthropist Professor Marmalade, they are caught, and Marmalade offers to reform them. Wolf, who enjoyed the feeling of helping someone, plans to fake reform, but starts to mean it, which drives a wedge between him and Snake. Governor Diane Foxington, who once was the Crimson Paw, a legendary thief, sees something in Wolf. Marmalade is actually a criminal who uses the Bad Guys to steal a meteorite and frames them.
The Bad Guys ending explained
Marmalade uses the meteorite to mind-control guinea pigs across the city to rob it, and the Bad Guys, with Diane, stop him and expose him. Snake, who had sided with Marmalade, returns to Wolf. The Bad Guys turn themselves in and Marmalade is arrested. Diane promises to help them once they have served their time, and Wolf, now trying to be good for real, accepts the consequences with his friends beside him. The Bad Guys 2 follows them after their release.
Post-credits scenes
Yes. In a mid-credits scene, the gang is released from prison early for good behaviour.
