The story

Long before he even met Shrek, the notorious fighter, lover and outlaw Puss in Boots becomes a hero when he sets off on an adventure with the tough and street smart Kitty Softpaws and the mastermind Humpty Dumpty to save his town. This is the true story of The Cat, The Myth, The Legend... The Boots.

Puss in Boots recap

Before meeting Shrek, Puss is an outlaw on the run from his hometown of San Ricardo. He goes after the magic beans held by the killers Jack and Jill and runs into Kitty Softpaws, a cat burglar working for Humpty Alexander Dumpty, Puss' childhood friend from the orphanage. Years earlier Humpty tricked Puss into helping him rob the town bank, which made Puss a fugitive. Humpty persuades him to steal the beans and climb the beanstalk to the giant's castle in the clouds, where they take the Golden Goose. Back on the ground, the plan turns out to be a long revenge: Humpty and Kitty set Puss up, and he is arrested while Humpty is hailed as a hero.

Puss in Boots ending explained

Mother Goose, the giant mother of the gosling, comes to San Ricardo to get her child back. Puss escapes jail, and Humpty and Puss work together to lure her away. Humpty sacrifices himself, falling off a bridge; his shell breaks to reveal a golden egg, and he flies off with the geese. Puss is cleared as a hero, and he and Kitty part on good terms, with a kiss.
