The story

An orphaned dinosaur raised by lemurs joins an arduous trek to a sancturary after a meteorite shower destroys his family home.

Dinosaur recap

An iguanodon egg is carried away by predators and ends up on an island of lemurs, where Aladar hatches and is raised by the lemur Plio and her family. Years later, a meteor shower destroys the island, and Aladar and his lemur family swim to the mainland, where they join a herd of dinosaurs heading for the Nesting Grounds. The herd's leader, Kron, drives the weak to the back, leaving them to die, while Aladar helps the stragglers, including the old dinosaurs Baylene and Eema. Aladar falls for Kron's sister, Neera. Carnotaurs hunt the herd. When the lake they reach is dry, Aladar finds water and saves them, and Kron becomes jealous. Kron abandons the stragglers to the carnotaurs, and his lieutenant Bruton dies bringing down a cave on one of them. Baylene breaks through a cave wall into the Nesting Grounds, but its main entrance is blocked by a rockslide.

Dinosaur ending explained

Aladar leads the herd into the Nesting Grounds after the last carnotaur kills Kron and falls to its death. Kron attacks Aladar for trying to stop the herd climbing the rubble, which hides a sheer drop, and the herd follows Aladar instead. When the carnotaur charges, Aladar has them stand together and it backs off, then mortally wounds Kron, who is alone on the rocks. Aladar drives it to the edge, which collapses under it. Later Aladar and Neera's young hatch, and the lemurs find others of their kind.
