Cow and Chicken

Series, 1997, Cartoon Cartoons, Set in A suburban farm town

Cow and Chicken is #3 of 18 in release order and #3 of 18 in chronological order in the Cartoon Network Classics.

The story

Follows the surreal adventures of a cow, named Cow, and her chicken brother, named Chicken. They are often antagonized by "The Red Guy", who poses as various characters to scam them.

Cow and Chicken recap

Cow and Chicken are sister and brother, born to two human parents who are only ever seen from the waist down. Cow is a large, sweet, simple-minded cow who loves her brother; Chicken is a short-tempered, cocky chicken who tries to look cool at school and keeps ending up humiliated. Their recurring tormentor is the Red Guy, a devil-like figure who wears no pants and appears in a different disguise each episode, as a teacher, a salesman, a judge or a doctor, to trick them. Cow also has a superhero identity, Supercow, who speaks Spanish. The humour is crude and absurd, with lots of gross-out jokes. The show runs four seasons, from 1997 to 1999, and each half hour originally includes a segment of the spin-off I Am Weasel, about a heroic weasel and his rival, the dim baboon I.R. Baboon, which later becomes its own series.

Cow and Chicken ending explained

Cow and Chicken ends without a finale in August 1999. The last episodes, "The Cow and Chicken Blues" and "The Ballad of Cow and Chicken", are musical segments in which a blues singer and then the Teacher and two classmates tell wild stories about the siblings and the Red Guy. Nothing is resolved, and the show has not been revived, although I Am Weasel continued on its own until 2000.
