The Hateful Eight recap

The Hateful Eight (2015) traps a bounty hunter, his prisoner and six strangers in a stagecoach stop during a Wyoming blizzard, where some are lying. Quentin Tarantino writes and directs. John Ruth (Kurt Russell), known as the Hangman, is taking Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh), worth $10,000, to Red Rock to hang. On the road his coach picks up Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson), a former Union cavalry officer turned bounty hunter who carries a letter from Abraham Lincoln, and Chris Mannix (Walton Goggins), who says he is Red Rock's new sheriff. At Minnie's Haberdashery they find Bob (Demián Bichir), who says Minnie left him in charge, the English hangman Oswaldo Mobray (Tim Roth), the cowboy Joe Gage (Michael Madsen) and the old Confederate general Sanford Smithers (Bruce Dern). Warren goads Smithers with a story about his son's death and shoots him when he draws. Someone poisons the coffee. Shot in 70mm, it carries an Oscar-winning score by Ennio Morricone. The film stands alone.

The Hateful Eight ending explained

The Hateful Eight ends with Warren and Mannix, both badly wounded, hanging Daisy from a beam. Ruth and the coach driver die of the poisoned coffee, and a flashback shows that Daisy's gang killed Minnie and her staff that morning and took their places, with her brother Jody (Channing Tatum) hidden beneath the floor. Jody shoots Warren, and the gang dies. Lying on a bed, Mannix reads aloud Warren's Lincoln letter, which Warren has already admitted he forged.
