3:10 to Yuma recap
3:10 to Yuma (2007) follows Dan Evans, a broke Arizona rancher who agrees to escort a captured outlaw to the train that will take him to prison. James Mangold directs. Dan (Christian Bale), who lost a leg in the Civil War, is behind on his debts, and his land is wanted by the railroad. He and his sons watch Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) and his gang rob a stagecoach carrying a payroll. When Wade is caught in Bisbee, the railroad man Grayson Butterfield offers $200 for help getting him to the 3:10 train at Contention. Dan joins a party that includes the aging Pinkerton Byron McElroy (Peter Fonda). Wade, polite and dangerous, kills a guard and later McElroy, while Charlie Prince (Ben Foster), his devoted second, leads the gang after them. Dan's fourteen-year-old son William (Logan Lerman) follows the party. At Contention, the hotel is surrounded. It remakes the 1957 film of the same name, both from an Elmore Leonard story.
3:10 to Yuma ending explained
3:10 to Yuma ends with Dan getting Wade onto the prison train and being shot dead by Charlie Prince, after which Wade kills Prince and the gang. Prince offers townspeople $200 for each escort they kill, and Dan and Wade run a gauntlet to the station, Wade now helping. Wade boards and whistles for his horse, which follows the train; he has escaped Yuma before. In the 1957 version both men live.
