Minority Report recap

Minority Report (2002) follows the chief of a police unit that arrests murderers before they kill, until its psychics predict he will commit a murder himself. Steven Spielberg directs this adaptation of a 1956 Philip K. Dick story. In Washington, D.C., in 2054, John Anderton (Tom Cruise) runs Precrime, which acts on visions from three precogs floating in a pool, chief among them Agatha (Samantha Morton). Since his son Sean vanished, Anderton has been estranged from his wife Lara (Kathryn Morris) and uses drugs. Danny Witwer (Colin Farrell), a Justice Department agent, arrives to audit the programme before it goes national, and Precrime's founder Lamar Burgess (Max von Sydow) is his mentor. When the precogs show Anderton killing a man named Leo Crow in 36 hours, he runs, gets new eyes from a back-street surgeon to fool the city's retina scanners, and learns from Precrime's co-creator Iris Hineman that precogs sometimes disagree. He kidnaps Agatha. Minority Report comes after A.I. and before Catch Me If You Can, released the same year.

Minority Report ending explained

Minority Report ends with Precrime shut down. Anderton finds Crow, who claims to have taken Sean but was paid to stage it; Crow grabs Anderton's gun and is killed. Burgess murders Witwer and has Anderton locked in suspended detention. Lara frees him after working out that Burgess killed Agatha's mother, Anne Lively, and used the system to hide it. At a gala, the precogs predict Burgess will kill Anderton, and Burgess shoots himself instead. Prisoners are released, Lara is pregnant, and the precogs retire to a remote cottage.
