Star Trek Generations recap

In 2293, the retired Kirk attends the launch of the Enterprise-B, which is called to rescue refugees from an energy ribbon. Kirk saves the ship but is apparently killed when the ribbon hits it. In 2371, Picard's Enterprise-D answers an attack on an observatory and rescues the scientist Dr. Tolian Soran, one of the refugees, who wants to return to the Nexus, a realm inside the ribbon where any wish comes true. Picard learns that his brother and nephew have died in a fire. Data installs an emotion chip and struggles with fear and guilt. Soran works with the Klingon Duras sisters and plans to destroy a star in the Veridian system to steer the ribbon onto a planet, killing millions on a nearby world.

Star Trek Generations ending explained

The Duras sisters cripple the Enterprise-D, and its saucer crash-lands on Veridian III. Picard enters the Nexus, finds Kirk alive there and persuades him to leave his dream life and help. Back on the planet, they stop Soran, and Kirk dies under a collapsed bridge, telling Picard it was fun. Picard buries him and the crew is rescued.
