The Blind Side recap

The Blind Side (2009) follows Michael Oher, a homeless Memphis teenager taken in by a wealthy family, on his way to becoming a top college football recruit. John Lee Hancock writes and directs the football drama, adapted from Michael Lewis's 2006 book. Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron), who has drifted between foster homes, is admitted to a Christian private school because of his size. Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock) sees him walking in the cold on the night before Thanksgiving and lets him sleep at the family home, where her husband Sean Tuohy (Tim McGraw) and their son SJ (Jae Head) welcome him. Leigh Anne becomes his guardian, defends the arrangement to her friends, and learns he scored high in "protective instincts." She teaches him to see the quarterback as family he must protect, and he becomes a dominant left tackle. A tutor, Miss Sue (Kathy Bates), raises his grades to college standards. The Blind Side follows Invincible and precedes The Fighter.

The Blind Side ending explained

The Blind Side ends with Michael leaving for the University of Mississippi, where the Tuohys went to school. An NCAA investigator asks whether the family took him in to steer him there, and Michael storms off, goes back to his old neighbourhood and fights a gang leader who threatens the Tuohys. He tells the investigator he chose the school because his family went there. Real photos close the film and say Oher was a 2009 first-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens. In 2023 Oher said the Tuohys had made him sign a conservatorship rather than adopting him.
