The story

Former London constable Nicholas Angel finds it difficult to adapt to his new assignment in the sleepy British village of Sandford. Not only does he miss the excitement of the big city, but he also has a well-meaning oaf for a partner. However, when a series of grisly accidents rocks Sandford, Angel smells something rotten in the idyllic village.

Hot Fuzz recap

Sergeant Nicholas Angel is so good at his job in the Metropolitan Police that his superiors send him to the sleepy village of Sandford to stop him making them look bad. He is paired with PC Danny Butterman, an action film fan and son of the friendly Inspector Frank Butterman. Sandford has won the Village of the Year award for years. Then several villagers die in apparent accidents, including an actor beheaded after a play and a journalist killed by a falling church spire. Angel suspects murder and the supermarket manager Simon Skinner, but no one at the station listens. He finds the real truth: the Neighbourhood Watch Alliance, a group of village leaders including Frank, has been killing anyone who might spoil the village's image. Danny is ordered to stab Angel but fakes it, and drives him out of town. The second film of Wright's Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, with Pegg and Frost again, has a blue Cornetto for the police.

Hot Fuzz ending explained

Angel and Danny bring down the Alliance in a shootout across the village. Angel returns armed to the teeth, and he and Danny fight the Alliance through the village, ending at a model village where Skinner is impaled. Frank crashes and is arrested. Back at the station, a surviving member pulls a gun, Danny takes the bullet, and a naval mine in the evidence room explodes. Danny survives, and he and Angel go on policing Sandford together.
