The story

Picking up where the blockbuster motion picture left off, Godzilla: The Series is a fast-paced animated adventure series that pits humanity against a new generation of giant monsters.

Godzilla: The Series recap

A sequel to the 1998 Godzilla film. After the monster is killed in New York, scientist Dr. Nick Tatopoulos finds one egg that survived. The baby Godzilla hatches, sees Nick first and treats him as its parent. Nick puts together H.E.A.T., a research team that investigates giant mutant creatures around the world. The team includes Elsie Chapman, a paleontologist; Mendel Craven, an anxious engineer; Randy Hernandez, a young hacker; and Monique Dupre, a French agent first sent to kill Godzilla, plus their battered robot N.I.G.E.L. Godzilla follows them and fights off giant mutant crabs, bats, cyborgs and others. Recurring threats include the alien Leviathans and an evil businessman, Cameron Winter. Nick's ex-girlfriend Audrey and cameraman Animal from the film also return. The show ran on Fox Kids for two seasons and 40 episodes from 1998 to 2000.

Godzilla: The Series ending explained

Godzilla: The Series has no finale. It was cancelled after two seasons, with the last broadcast episode, "Ring of Fire", airing in April 2000. Shifting time slots during the Pokémon and Digimon era hurt it, and two finished episodes were never aired on American television. Godzilla and H.E.A.T. are still working together when it stops, and nothing has continued the series since.
