The story

The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice, awakens in the heart of Umbrella’s most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by new found allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.

Resident Evil: Retribution recap

An Umbrella attack led by the brainwashed Jill Valentine takes the Arcadia, and Alice is captured. She wakes in a huge underwater base in Kamchatka where Umbrella simulates outbreaks in copies of real cities, using clones. In a suburban set, an Alice clone lives with a husband and a deaf daughter, Becky. When the power fails, Alice escapes and meets Ada Wong, who works for Albert Wesker. Wesker has turned against Umbrella, now run by the Red Queen, and has sent a rescue team led by Leon S. Kennedy with Barry Burton and Luther West. Alice finds Becky, who thinks she is her mother, and protects her. Jill attacks with clones of Alice's dead friends Rain, One and Carlos, and Barry dies holding them off.

Resident Evil: Retribution ending explained

Alice frees Jill from Umbrella's control, Rain is dragged under the ice, and Wesker gives Alice back her powers in Washington, where the last humans prepare for a final siege. A super-strong Rain clone kills Luther before Alice drowns her. Wesker's base is the White House, and from the roof he shows Alice the vast army of monsters outside. The film ends as the survivors brace for that final battle in The Final Chapter.
