Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie recap

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995) pits the six Rangers against Ivan Ooze, an ancient tyrant freed from his prison by Lord Zedd and Rita. Bryan Spicer directs, with Paul Freeman as Ooze and the season 2 cast: Tommy Oliver (Jason David Frank), Kimberly Hart (Amy Jo Johnson), Billy Cranston (David Yost), Rocky DeSantos (Steve Cardenas), Adam Park (Johnny Yong Bosch) and Aisha Campbell (Karan Ashley). Ooze wrecks the Command Center, strips the team of their powers and leaves Zordon dying, so Alpha 5 sends them to the planet Phaedos. There the warrior Dulcea (Gabrielle Fitzpatrick) awakens their animal spirits, and they fight past a dinosaur skeleton and stone guardians to claim the Great Power. Back home, Ooze hypnotises Angel Grove's parents with his toy slime and digs up two war machines. Released between seasons 2 and 3, the film sits in its own continuity outside the show.
