The story

Class 1-A visits Nabu Island where they finally get to do some real hero work. The place is so peaceful that it's more like a vacation... until they're attacked by a villain with an unfathomable Quirk! His power is eerily familiar, and it looks like Shigaraki had a hand in the plan. But with All Might retired and citizens' lives on the line, there's no time for questions. Deku and his friends are the next generation of heroes, and they're the island's only hope.

My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising recap

My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising (2019) strands Class 1-A on remote Nabu Island, which they must defend alone against a villain with stolen Quirks. Directed by Kenji Nagasaki from a script by Yosuke Kuroda, the second film is an original story set during season 5. The villain Nine has been given a copy of All For One's power and is hunting a healing Quirk to cure his failing body. It belongs to young Katsuma Shimano, whom Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo have befriended along with his older sister, Mahoro. When Nine's gang cuts the island off, the class splits up to protect the residents, but Nine overpowers Izuku and Katsuki twice. The film uses ideas Kohei Horikoshi once considered for the manga's ending and was intended to be the last film. Watch it after season 5's joint training episodes.

My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising ending explained

My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising ends with Izuku passing One For All to Katsuki so they can beat Nine together. All Might later finds that the transfer did not finish: Izuku keeps the power, and Katsuki forgets ever having it. Tomura Shigaraki kills the weakened Nine, and Class 1-A helps rebuild before leaving; Izuku tells Katsuma he can become a hero, as All Might once told him.
