The story

Against his father Odin's will, The Mighty Thor - a powerful but arrogant warrior god - recklessly reignites an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Thor recap

On the day he is to be crowned king of Asgard, Thor leads his brother Loki and his friends on a reckless raid on Jotunheim after Frost Giants break into Asgard's vault. Odin strips Thor of his powers and banishes him to Earth, sending his hammer Mjolnir after him with an enchantment that only someone worthy can lift it. In New Mexico, scientist Jane Foster, her mentor Erik Selvig and her intern Darcy Lewis run into Thor with their van. S.H.I.E.L.D. seals off the hammer's crater, and Thor fights his way in but cannot lift it. Loki learns he is a Frost Giant whom Odin took as a baby, and when Odin falls into a deep sleep, Loki takes the throne and tells Thor their father is dead. Sif and the Warriors Three come to bring Thor home, and Loki sends the Destroyer after them. Thor offers his own life to spare the town, the Destroyer strikes him down, and he is worthy again.

Thor ending explained

Mjolnir flies back to Thor, his powers return, and he destroys the Destroyer. On Asgard, he stops Loki's plan to wipe out Jotunheim by smashing the Bifrost bridge, which cuts him off from Jane. Loki lets go and falls into the void. Odin wakes, and Thor admits he is not ready to be king.
