RocknRolla recap

RocknRolla (2008) follows a crooked London land deal where a gangster, a Russian billionaire, his accountant and a crew of thieves chase the same €7 million. Guy Ritchie's fifth feature returns him to London crime after Revolver. Lenny Cole (Tom Wilkinson) fixes planning permission through a corrupt councillor, with his right-hand man Archy (Mark Strong) narrating. The Russian investor Uri Omovich (Karel Roden) pays Lenny the bribe money and lends him a lucky painting, but his accountant Stella (Thandiwe Newton) hires One-Two (Gerard Butler), Mumbles (Idris Elba) and Handsome Bob (Tom Hardy) of the Wild Bunch to rob the payment, twice. Lenny's junkie rock-star stepson Johnny Quid (Toby Kebbell) fakes his death and steals the painting, which passes through crackheads and the Wild Bunch to Stella. Uri, blaming Lenny for the robberies, has Lenny's leg broken over a round of golf.

RocknRolla ending explained

RocknRolla ends with Archy discovering that Lenny is the police informant "Sidney Shaw" who has kept his own men in prison for years. Archy frees the Wild Bunch and has Lenny drowned and fed to crayfish, while Uri orders Stella killed after seeing the painting in her house. Johnny talks his way out of an elevator execution, and Archy later collects him from rehab and hands him the painting. A title card promised a sequel, The Real RocknRolla, which never got made.
