The story

Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees return to terrorize the teenagers of Elm Street. Only this time, they're out to get each other, too.

Freddy vs. Jason recap

Freddy Krueger, the dream killer, is powerless because Springwood has made the town's teenagers forget him, using a drug called Hypnocil to suppress their dreams. To make the town afraid again, he takes the form of Pamela Voorhees in Jason's dreams and sends Jason to Springwood. Jason kills a teenager at Lori Campbell's house, and the town starts to fear Freddy again. Lori and her old boyfriend Will, who escaped from the asylum where Hypnocil was given to him, piece it together. But Jason keeps killing the teenagers Freddy wants for himself, and Freddy turns on him. Lori and her friends plan to drag Freddy out of dreams and into the real world at Crystal Lake, where Jason can fight him.

Freddy vs. Jason ending explained

Lori pulls Freddy into the real world at Crystal Lake, and Freddy and Jason fight across the docks. Jason tears Freddy's arm off, Freddy stabs Jason, and Lori beheads Freddy with Jason's machete. Jason sinks into the lake. The next morning, Jason rises from the water holding Freddy's head, which winks.
