Dune: Prophecy recap

Ten thousand years before Paul Atreides, the Sisterhood, which will become the Bene Gesserit, works its way into the Imperium's great houses. Valya Harkonnen is its Mother Superior, and her sister Tula runs the school. Valya arranges for Princess Ynez, daughter of Emperor Javicco Corrino, to marry the boy heir of House Richese, but Desmond Hart, a soldier back from Arrakis, burns the boy to death with a strange power and tells Valya he means to destroy the Sisterhood. Her Voice has no effect on him. Javicco makes Desmond his adviser, and his wife, Empress Natalya, takes his side. Flashbacks show Valya's rise and Tula's massacre of the Atreides men she was meant to marry into. The acolyte Lila goes through the Agony ritual to reach ancestral memory and is taken over by a dead sister. Tula learns Desmond carries both Harkonnen and Atreides blood.

Dune: Prophecy ending explained

Desmond is Tula's son, whom she gave up at birth and hid from Valya. Valya sends Javicco's mistress Francesca to kill him, and both Javicco and Francesca die. Desmond is stabbed by a shapeshifter and sets off a virus against the sisters; Tula helps Valya survive, then goes to her son, and he has her arrested. Valya, who has lost her hold on the Sisterhood, flees to Arrakis with Ynez and her lover Keiran to prepare Ynez to rule. A second season has been filmed.
