The story
Meet the Diffy family, a futuristic family from the year 2121. When the eccentric dad, Lloyd, rents a time machine for their family vacation, everyone is excited. But then something goes wrong. Their time machine malfunctions and they are thrown out of the space/time continuum in the year 2004.
Phil of the Future recap
The Diffy family, from the year 2121, rent a time machine for a vacation, and it breaks down in the present, stranding them in Pickford, California. Phil and his younger sister Pim enrol at H.G. Wells high and middle school while their father Lloyd tries to fix the machine and their mother Barbara adjusts to life without future technology. Phil's neighbour Keely Teslow is the only outsider who knows the truth, and she becomes his best friend. Most episodes turn on a futuristic gadget causing trouble at school, Pim scheming against everyone, and Phil keeping the family secret. A caveman named Curtis, who stowed away in the machine during an earlier stop, also lives with them. In the second season some side characters change, and Phil and Keely move closer to admitting how they feel.
Phil of the Future ending explained
In the series finale, "Back to the Future (Not the Movie)," Phil and Keely finally become a couple, and Lloyd admits the time machine is fixed; he had been stalling because the family was happy in the present. Phil says goodbye to Keely with a kiss broadcast over the school TV system, and the Diffys leave for 2121, then realise they forgot Curtis and come back for him. There was no revival.
