The story

This animated comedy series is set in the Middle Ages and follows the title character, Dave, in his comedic adventures with his family (his sisters, Candy and Fang) as they protect themselves and their family from a world of oddball foes. Dave himself combines strength with an appreciation of the finer things in life, including origami, bird watching, and even gourmet cooking.

Dave the Barbarian recap

In the medieval kingdom of Udrogoth, the king and queen are away fighting evil, so their eldest daughter Candy, more interested in shopping than ruling, is princess regent. Her brother Dave is a huge, strong barbarian who is supposed to defend the kingdom, but he would rather knit, cook and avoid trouble. Their little sister Fang is a fierce warrior who keeps being mistaken for a monkey, Uncle Oswidge is a clumsy wizard, Faffy is the family's pet dragon and Lula is Dave's sarcastic talking sword. A narrator talks directly to the characters, and the show is built on parody, puns and absurd jokes. Their enemies include Chuckles the Silly Piggy, a would-be Dark Lord in a pig's body, and the sorcerer Malsquando. It ran one season of 21 episodes, from 2004 to 2005.

Dave the Barbarian ending explained

Dave the Barbarian ended after one season without a finale. The last episodes are ordinary standalone comedies, and the final one to air was "Not a Monkey" in January 2005. Dave's parents never come home from fighting evil, Candy is still in charge of Udrogoth, and Chuckles is never defeated for good. There has been no revival or follow-up film.
