Pocahontas recap

In 1607, English colonists of the Virginia Company sail to the New World under Governor Ratcliffe, who wants gold. With them is Captain John Smith, an explorer. Pocahontas, daughter of Chief Powhatan, is asked to marry Kocoum, a serious warrior, but she follows her own path, guided by Grandmother Willow, a talking tree. She meets John Smith in the forest, and they fall in love, teaching each other about their worlds while the colonists dig for gold and fight her people. Kocoum sees the two kiss and attacks Smith, and Thomas, a young colonist, shoots Kocoum dead. Smith is captured and sentenced to die at dawn. Powhatan's warriors prepare for war, and Ratcliffe leads the colonists out to attack the tribe, calling the natives savages. Pocahontas, guided by Grandmother Willow and Meeko, her raccoon, runs to stop it.

Pocahontas ending explained

Pocahontas stops the execution by throwing herself over Smith, and her plea persuades Powhatan to make peace. Ratcliffe fires at Powhatan, Smith takes the bullet, and the colonists turn on Ratcliffe and send him home in chains. Smith must sail back to England for treatment; he asks Pocahontas to come, but she chooses to stay with her people, and she watches his ship leave from a cliff.
