The story
In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.

MaXXXine (2024) finds Maxine Minx in 1985 Hollywood, six years after the farm massacre, landing a mainstream role as a killer stalks those around her. Ti West writes and directs the last film of his X trilogy. Maxine (Mia Goth), still working in porn and a peep show, wins the lead in the horror sequel The Puritan II under director Elizabeth Bender (Elizabeth Debicki). With the Night Stalker loose in the city, a leather-clad killer murders her friends Amber James (Halsey) and Tabby Martin, brands them with satanic marks, and later kills her video store friend Leon (Moses Sumney). A private investigator, John Labat (Kevin Bacon), threatens to expose what happened in Texas unless she meets his client, while LAPD detectives Williams (Michelle Monaghan) and Torres (Bobby Cannavale) press her for answers. Her agent Teddy Knight (Giancarlo Esposito) helps her crush Labat in a junkyard compactor. It follows X directly and closes the trilogy.
MaXXXine ending explained
MaXXXine ends at the Hollywood sign. The address Labat gave leads Maxine to a Hollywood Hills mansion, where she finds her co-star Molly Bennett (Lily Collins) dismembered and learns the killer is her father, the televangelist Ernest Miller, filming murders with his followers to make a snuff film exposing Hollywood. He ties her up for an exorcism; the two detectives storm in and die in the shootout. Maxine chases him up to the sign, imagines her own fame, then shoots him in the face with a shotgun. A month later she is back on set, the star of The Puritan II.
